Attendance to IATDMCT 2021, Rome - Sep 21

As part of ChromaDose's commitment to disseminating its research findings, the project sent a delegation to the International Association of Therapeutic Drug Monitoring and Clinical Toxicology (IATDMCT) 2021 Annual Congress, held as a hybrid meeting in Rome, Italy.

The project was delighted to present some of its findings from its extensive patient and public involvement (PPI) work via a poster entitled, "Involving patients and the public in the development of novel devices and protocols for therapeutic drug monitoring in paediatric oncology". We thank authors Alaric Taylor, Lisa Pfaffenrath, Deirdre Leyden, Jo Ball, Neil Davidson, Neil Ranasinghe, Gareth Veal, Stefan Guldin and presenter, Jugal Suthar. The presented findings touched on the methodology behind online surveys and online sessions that were targeted at young person advisory groups (YPAGs), hospital schools, and parents of children. Across both activities, there was an impressive total of 125 participants.

Day 1 of the conference provided rare hands-on insight into the construction of pharmacometric models for routine dose adjustment. Day 2 highlights included how to integrate drug monitoring into the real world, practical approaches to dose optimisation, drug monitoring of biologics and antimicrobials. Days 3 and 4 had further relevance to the ChromaDose project, via the attendance to the drug monitoring in oncology committee and attending talks focusing on precision dosing in intensive care, key issues in paediatric patients and advances in clinical toxicology instrumentation.

We would like to thank the organisers of the conference for putting on such a well organised event despite the pandemic. Looking forward to furthering these exciting discussions in Prague 2022.
